Dog Walking Volunteers do more than walk dogs. We play an essential role in the rehabilitation process for these lovely pups which helps find their forever home. Being in a shelter is stressful.  It's important that we provide exercise, mental stimulation and socialization. For the dog's well-being, our goal is to get them out no less than 4 times a day. Volunteer: Urgent - 50 Small Doggies Need Help in the Lois Pope Clinic

Volunteers urgently needed to help kennel staff (Marnie & Logan) care for 50 small dogs in the Lois Pope Clinic.

Please sign up for a shift to ensure coverage. Need 8 volunteers in 2-hour shifts, if you can stay longer, please sign up for 2+ shifts.  Must be able to squat, climb into x-pen. (Dogs have already gone thru quarantine).

General Responsibilities: 

·         Assist staff with any request they have.

·         Maintain clean pens, bedding and water bowls.

·         Interact/socialize with dogs by sitting in x-pen.

Volunteer: Dog Training Hands-On Session for Experienced #4 & #5 Volunteers

Professional dog trainer Bob Brunell "Sit Means Sit" 561-543-5583 will be at the shelter every other Saturday from 8:30 AM - 9:30 AM. 

This advanced hands-on dog training session is designed specifically for experienced volunteers ready to deepen their expertise and refine their skills. Building on foundational techniques, participants will engage with #4 & #5 rated dogs where behavioral modification strategies are most important. Volunteers will work closely with a professional dog trainer, practicing techniques such as redirecting reactive behaviors, leash etiquette with high-energy dogs, and stopping bad habits. Emphasis is placed on observation, adaptability, and collaboration, ensuring volunteers can tailor their approach to individual dogs’ needs. By the end of the session, experienced volunteers will be equipped with advanced tools and insight to mentor others and contribute meaningfully to the ongoing development and well-being of the dogs in their care.
